i felt like the sound quality was a step back from 2006. The sound on the 2008-2010 boots just doesn't grab me. you might end up sorry that you got me started. And then I listened to it and was underwhelmed, but still loved it since I was so new to PJ and was so in love with the concept of being able to own a specific show you attended. I first got into PJ in the late summer of 2008 and I remember learning about this incredible thing they do, to record every show and put it out with great sound quality, and then seeing SO MANY posts on the 10 club about how incredible Bonnaroo was and how if you wanted to buy any boot from '08 it had to be Bonnaroo. Here's a follow up question: on the years where you said none, is it because you haven't listened to those years or you think all of the bootlegs from those years are bad? I take note that you said none on 2008. I love to pick the minds of other PJ freaks. Hey, thank you for taking the time to give such a thoughtful reply to my post! I have pretty much one friend who I can nerd out with in person about these things, but I know the community lives, which is why I love these posts. i may end up editing and adding to this as i continue to think about your questions the rest of the day. Thanks for the post and for giving me the chance to talk about something no one i know personally wants to hear me talk about. in my humble opinion, the encore stretch from "don't be shy" through "yellow ledbetter" is possibly pearl jam's finest live moment. however, the bootleg has become my overall favorite. seeing U2 there a year or two later confirmed that. it wasn't the band's fault- the sound quality in the san diego sports arena was hideous. I was at the 2000 san diego show and at the time was- and still is- my least favorite show i'd attended. Legendary ones i think are over-rated? 2012 atlanta, some days 2000 seatbonner springs, 2003 mansfield 3. the st louis vfc show was epic in every way imaginable. also, i think the 2004 vote for change tour would be a fan favorite if it was released with sound quality on par with the 2003 boots. it was amazing to see the difference live. the band became a different animal when matt came on board. if they released soundboard bootlegs for the 1998 shows, that probably would be my hands down winner. the sound quality on 2013 through 2014 is exquisite, but ed's voice doesn't keep up with the band at times and they play a lot of songs faster and sloppier than i like to hear them. i'm not a fan of riot act, so would probably give the nod to 2000 u.s. Single best year for bootlegs? would easily be 2005 canadian tour if the sound quality was better, otherwise it's a toss up for me between 2000 u.s.
